Dexter Cattle

When we tell people that we are Dexter owners, we often get a puzzled look; what are Dexter cattle?

Well, they are an all-around great tri-purpose cattle! Measuring at only 34-50 inches at the hip and weighing on average 600-700 lbs. (cows) and 1000 lbs. (bulls), they are not classified as "mini" seeing as this is their natural breed standard. Not only is their beef fantastic, and they rival the Jersey in milk production, but they are also stocky and can be trained as oxen. Their small size and docile temperament make them the perfect choice for any small (or large) farm, only requiring an estimated 1/2 acre per cow.

Our herd bull, Jimmy, aka "Big Mac," runs with our girls year-round, which means we have calves born throughout the year. Below is info on calves that are currently for sale or upcoming. Please note that all of our registered Dexters are A2/A2, PHA & Chondro negative, and a mix of polled and horned.

Dexter/Holstein Cross Cattle

While we originally started with the intent of breeding only registered Dexter cattle, in 2023, we were given the opportunity to take in three Holsteins. We have since fallen in love with the Dexter/Holstein cross, which has proven to create the perfect milk cow and steer! Below you can find last year's calves as well as any born in the current year. With that said, our goal will always be to grow our Dexter herd.
